Few quarterbacks throw for three touchdowns in their NFL debut. Even fewer receive a congratulatory call from a football legend after doing it.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens‘ fantastic night got even better following his team’s 34-3 win over the Oakland Raiders. As Mullens was sitting with the NFL Network crew, he received a call from former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre.
Favre congratulated Mullens on his big night, and spoke glowingly about Mullens’ ability. The Hall of Famer said he texted Mullens before the game, and wasn’t at all surprised about Mullen’s performance. Favre added that all Mullens needed was an opportunity to show what he could do.
Favre and Mullens know each other well. Both men went to the University of Southern Mississippi and share the same agent.
Even though the two had a prior connection, Mullens getting a call from Favre is a tremendous way to cap off a pretty flawless night.
It will be tough for Mullens to top that. If he gets another start, he could throw three touchdowns again, but finding another NFL quarterbacking legend to give him a call might prove difficult.
