NHS' Combs-Pierce, Parks each named District 2 player of the year

Mar. 15—The Norman High boys basketball team were well-represented in the Class 6A All District-2 teams, including three top individual awards.

Trashaun Combs-Pierce was the District 2 Player of the Year and co-Defensive Player of the Year alongside Putnam City West's Kaidon Rayfield. Head coach Cory Cole earned Coach of the Year honors.

Point guard Beau Billingsley (second team) and forward Isaiah Amous (third team) each also made it on the all-district team. BJ Randle and Contrel Combs-Pierce were named all-district honorable mentions.

The Tigers were 21-6 this season and earned their second straight 6A state tournament appearance.

The Norman High girls took two individual awards and had three others named all-district or all-district honorable mention. The Tigers closed out the season 17-10 overall with an appearance in the area consolation bracket finals.

Keeley Parks was named the District 2 Player of the Year and Bailey Johnson was named the Freshman of the Year. Guard Ady Hybl was named to the second team, while Destinee Deer and Gabi Lee were each honorable mention selections.

The Timberwolves were represented by Olivia Watkins on the 6A District 1 first team and Seleh Harmon on the second team.

Lydia Plummer, Kenzie Clouse and Whitney Wollenberg each got honorable mentions.

Norman North went 10-14 this season.
