Riding lengthy points streak, Kings try to cool Jets

The Los Angeles Kings are amid their longest points streak of the season -- a stretch that began last month with a victory over the Winnipeg Jets, who appear back to their winning ways following a bumpy span. Looking to run that points streak to 11 games, the host Kings will try to keep the visiting Jets from a third consecutive victory on Saturday. Currently second in the Pacific Division, Los Angeles (41-20-10, 92 points) has outscored its opponents 42-23 during its 8-0-2 stretch - one game shy of matching the club record set in 1974 and matched in 2011 and 2013. Adrian Kempe had two goals with an assist and Carl Grundstrom also scored twice as 14 players posted at least one point for the Kings, who matched their highest-scoring game of the season with Monday's 8-2 rout of visiting Calgary to improve to 9-0-2 at home since the All-Star break.

Golden Knights' First-Round Playoff Matchup Coming Into Focus

A nerve-wracking final push for the playoffs is upon the Vegas Golden Knights with only ten regular-season games left. At this time last season, Vegas was on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. This season, they still reign – however narrowly – atop the Pacific Division and enjoy a decent-sized cushion among the Western Conference postseason participants. The Golden Knights sit just four points up on the Los Angeles Kings for the division lead and six points ahead of the lurking Edmonton Oilers and their 60-goal man, Connor McDavid, with their two chief division rivals not surrendering much ground down the stretch.

    Blackhawks Pride Night Hockey

FILE - Los Angeles Kings goaltender Calvin Petersen (40) holds a stick wrapped in rainbow tape for Pride night while warming up before an NHL hockey game Monday, April 26, 2021, in Los Angeles. At least one National Hockey League team with a Russian player on its roster has decided against wearing special warmup jerseys to commemorate Pride Night because of a Russian law that expands restrictions on activities seen as promoting LGBTQ rights.
