Montreal Canadiens forward and captain Nick Suzuki was selected as the team's nominee for this year's King Clancy Memorial Trophy on Wednesday. The award is presented to the NHL player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and who has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community. Suzuki is one of 32 nominees selected League-wide by their respective NHL teams on Wednesday. Among the many gestures Nick Suzuki made this year, the London, ON native has chosen to support the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation by acquiring a suite at the Bell Centre specifically tailored to allow hundreds of youths in need to attend Canadiens home games.
The final meeting of the season between historic rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens, went down at the Bell Centre on Saturday evening. Toronto took advantage of two Montreal blue-line injuries with Kaiden Guhle and Arber Xhekaj both out of the line-up. Toronto also celebrated the return of Mitch Marner in a 4-2 win.
He didn't leave with a shutout, but Cayden Primeau won't complain about the result on Thursday night. Primeau made 29 saves as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1. After earning shutouts in his previous two home games, the 24-year-old netminder held Philadelphia off the scoresheet until the final 61 seconds before Owen Tippett broke the ice for the Flyers. Shutout or not, Primeau claimed the game's first star and fans chanted his name at the Bell Centre.
