Detroit Red Wings — Marco Kasper, Rogle (Sweden), center: You never know what Steve Yzerman will do, especially at this point in the draft, but Kasper seems like a neat fit into what the Wings need. Buffalo Sabres — Joakim Kemell, JYP (Finland), right wing: The Sabres are on the upswing, it finally appears, and Kemell has the potential to provide offense that is lacking in the organization.
In hopes of finding the Red Wings’ next center, I’ve looked at the best options the organization is likely to find in each phase of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and will offer a player who is likely to be available when the Red Wings are on the board, with 10 draft selections. Of course, Detroit would never select 10 centers, but it is a significant need for the team that I wanted to consider the highest upside centermen throughout the draft.
Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper said after the Lightning’s Stanley Cup loss to the Colorado Avalanche that his coaching staff is the “heartbeat” of the organization and stands together in both victory and defeat. It was a testament to how close the group has grown over the past three seasons, which included three Stanley Cup Final appearances and two titles. The staff got a bit thinner this past week when assistant Derek Lalonde was hired as the Detroit Red Wings’ 28th head coach.
