Jim Montgomery Offers Latest On Injured Bruins Forward Justin Brazeau

If the Boston Bruins advance past the Toronto Maple Leafs and reach the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, head coach Jim Montgomery believes the Black and Gold could add another power forward to their lineup. Justin Brazeau, who hasn't played since April 2 due to an upper-body injury, is a possible second-round option for the Bruins, Montgomery told reporters at Warrior Ice Arena on Monday. “I don't know exactly, but I would say Round Two,” Montgomery responded when asked about the best-case scenario for Brazeau, per the Bruins. Brazeau has skated with the group throughout the last week, and did so again before Boston's Game 2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs at TD Garden on Monday night.

Bruins Could Benefit if Montgomery Stops Experimenting

Coach Jim Montgomery may eventually set the Boston Bruins' four lines and defensive pairings, but for the near future, the lineup could remain in a state of flux. Montgomery appeared to be close to solidifying things for a long stretch lately, but that was before a huge shakeup last week. Then, on Tuesday, in a 3-0 win over the Nashville Predators, Montgomery went back to the familiarity of what the four forward lines looked like prior to last week while continuing to switch the defensive pieces. From that point, Montgomery shuffled the forwards, mostly eschewing set lines, and he also did some more mixing up of his defensive pairings.
