Former Blackhawks head coach Jeremy Colliton has officially found a new home.
In terms of offensive results, Stillman finished with a respectable 0.85 points per 60 rate at 5-on-5, third among Blackhawks defensemen, mostly thanks to having the best primary assist rate on the blue line with 0.51 per 60. The issue with those results, however, is that they’re not necessarily sustainable without major improvement in his underlying numbers — they seemed to be more of a byproduct of Stillman’s on-ice partners than a skill he’ll be able to reproduce in the future.
Anaheim enters the offseason with just over $39 million in cap space, the most of all 32 clubs right now. Even as a rebuilding team, the Ducks are slowly making progress and have enough money to take on Johnson’s contract if they’re interested in adding a veteran presence. He’d be a decent middle-six option and could serve as a mentor for an inexperienced Anaheim forward group.
