Lightning Round: 25 years since Fax-Gate

Twenty five years ago Tampa Bay Lightning founder and general manager Phil Esposito claimed he couldn’t read a fax. It was a rather blatant ploy (though not as blatant as Fernando Tatis Jr.’s “ringworm” ploy) to buy time to work out a deal to trade young center Chris Gratton for something more than the four draft picks they would receive from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for not matching the offer sheet they had signed him to earlier in the week.

Lightning Have Internal Alex Killorn Replacement if They Trade Him

Rumors are just rumors until they become facts. After the Tampa Bay Lightning’s colossal collapse to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, it seemed like the entire team was rumored to be on the trading block. However, three players kept rising to the top each season when the salary cap issue was mentioned: Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat and Alex Killorn.

Lightning Round: Erik Cernak named the defenseman of the year in Slovakia for the third year in a row

Last year Cernak also won the main prize, becoming the Player of the Year in Slovakia after winning his second Stanley Cup with the Lightning. Due to injuries this season, Cernak was able to play in only 55 regular season games with the Bolts, scoring one goal and 12 assists in those games. He also advanced to the Stanley Cup Final with the Lightning for third year in a row, scoring one goal and one assist in playoffs.
