    Lions condemn 'any use' of logo at Charlottesville event

    The Detroit Lions say they ''detest and disavow'' any use of their logo associated with the event last Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia. A photo attributed to showed someone with a logo similar to the one the Lions use , although it was blue and red and had stars on it. ''We detest and disavow any use or implied use of the Detroit Lions logo or any of our marks in association with the event this past Saturday in Charlottesville,'' the team said in a statement Tuesday night.

    Pistons open at new arena Oct. 18 against Charlotte

    The Detroit Pistons are set to play their first game at Little Caesars Arena on Oct. 18 against the Charlotte Hornets. The Pistons released their 2017-18 schedule on Monday, and they'll begin their season with the game against the Hornets. The Pistons are moving to the downtown arena after nearly three decades in suburban Auburn Hills. The Detroit Red Wings will also play at the new arena. They will open their season at home Oct. 5 against Minnesota.

    Agent Dan Milstein is tweeting out today that the Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Alexey Marchenko is on waivers. That’s all he’s saying. It’s not clear who is making the media statement tomorrow either. So which kind of waivers? First, cast your mind back to February, and you’ll recall that the Detroit Red Wings put Marchenko on waivers for the purpose of sending him to the AHL. The Leafs waived Frank Corrado for the same reason and claimed Marchenko. This might be that kind of waivers, and the only reason they’d be doing it now is in the hope someone would take him off their hands, reduce the SPC count, and get rid of his inflated cap hit.
