Just because the NHL can't release the Kraken until October doesn't mean Seattle wasn't in the mix at the trade deadline. General manager Ron Francis can't finalize any transactions until ownership makes its final expansion payment to the league, but there's precedent for him making a handshake deal or two. If Francis made an arrangement with another team, he's not saying, though Seattle was tuned in to the moving and shaking at the deadline and the rest of the league had the Kraken in mind with the expansion draft coming up in July.
He brings 10 goals and 19 points to the Vegas rotation, where he will likely make his debut on the third line at 7 p.m. tonight at the Los Angeles Kings. But Vegas rallied to tie it on a goal by Nicolas Roy and then a shorthanded score by Mark Stone with just 27 seconds remaining in the second period. Alex Tuch gave Vegas its first lead with his 14th goal of the season early in the third and Max Pacioretty provided a key insurance goal at 8:22 with a milestone power-play goal, whipping a wrist shot from the top of the left circle by a Stone screen.
