    Blues add Darryl Sydor as assistant coach

    The St. Louis Blues continued to assemble the coaching staff for Mike Yeo on Wednesday when they announced the hiring of former NHL defenseman Darryl Sydor. Sydor previously served as an assistant on Yeo’s staff for several years when he was the head coach of the Minnesota Wild. Before joining the Blues, Sydor was an assistant coach for the AHL’s Chicago Wolves this past season.

    Heika: I don't think you need to lose the third pick, just pay the money to buy out Niemi. That makes more sense. If you want to use the third pick to get a 20-something defenseman who you believe is better than any of the UFA's, I think that would be a better use of that pick. Or just take the player. There is a chance he could be really good and ready to play in the NHL by 2018-19. Jiri Hudler took somewhat of a paycut last year to play here. Ben Bishop did the same.
