    Hextall staying patient in Flyers’ goalie search

    The Philadelphia Flyers were hoping to add a veteran goaltender this weekend to complement Michal Neuvirth and as of Saturday evening they had yet to accomplish that goal. General manager Ron Hextall does not seem too concerned about that development and is leaning on the fact it seems to be a buyer’s market at the position. “We’re still doing our due diligence and in the end it’ll probably come down to the guys we like and then we’ll look at term and length.

    Center Skyler Brind'Amour and goaltender Cayden Primeau were among more than a dozen players with NHL bloodlines who were chosen on the second and final day of the draft in Chicago on Saturday. Brind'Amour is the son of Rod Brind'Amour, who had 1,184 points during a career that included a Stanley Cup championship with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006. The Edmonton Oilers chose the younger Brind'Amour with the 177th pick in the sixth round.

    Winnipeg Jets announce development camp

    There is no rest for the wicked as the Winnipeg Jets are opening their development camp tomorrow at the Bell-MTS IcePlex. The camp roster includes players who made their NHL debuts this season including Jack Roslovic, Kyle Connor, and Nelson Nogier. The camp will also feature all the new draftees from this weekend. Not included is signed Finnish defenceman Sami Niku, but that could be tied to the fact that Finland still has compulsory military service for males and he might not have completed his yet.
