Maple Leafs star Mitchell Marner was the victim of a carjacking in Toronto just 48 hours after his team was eliminated from the NHL playoffs, the team confirmed Tuesday. Marner was unharmed in the Monday evening incident, the Maple Leafs said in a statement. The team also said that Marner will have no additional comment on the matter at this time as Toronto police continue to investigate.
What if #1: Erase Two Iffy High-Sticking Calls John Tavares scored two goals in 26 seconds late in the second period of Game 6 to give the Maple Leafs a 3-2 lead and a chance to win the series going into the third period of that game. The Maple Leafs came out in the third period and did an excellent job of protecting the one-goal lead. At 8:02 of the third period, David Kampf was called for high sticking on Cal Foote.
The knock on the signing at the time was the fact Frederik Andersen was let go to sign a two-year $9 million contract with the Carolina Hurricanes, meanwhile, Mrazek ended up in Toronto on a three-year deal at a $3.8 million average annual value. Certainly not Dubas’ best work and admittedly so as he put the 30-year-old through waivers near the NHL Trade Deadline.
