When Dean Kukan made his debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets, in March 2016, his defensive partner was Cody Goloubef, and other teammates that night included Dalton Prout and Rene Bourque. My point is, this was a LONG time ago. And yet, for a variety of reasons, in the seven years since then, Kukan has played only 153 games.
Eric Robinson is what he is at this point, a fourth line grinder that uses his speed to make plays. That certainly doesn’t mean he can’t continue to improve his game and make a positive impact for his team, however. He set career highs in goals and assists this season and was part of a fourth line that was an offensive threat while on the ice.
The Wild got the No. overall pick (Marian Gaborik) and the Jackets got the No. Rostislav Klesa) and a consolation prize.
