Playoff ouster exposed a lingering lack of toughness in Bruins' attack
Jeremy Swayman already is doing the Boston Bruins proudly on the world stage that is the 2022 IIHF Men’s World Championship. The Bruins goaltender backstopped the United States to a 3-0 win over Great Britain on Thursday in his first game at the World Championship, saving all 17 shots he faced. USA Hockey added Swayman to its World Championship roster Monday, two days after the Bruins’ elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
However, he is also a year away from needing a new contract, so perhaps they will at least listen to offers for him this summer. With Jake DeBrusk’s future with the Bruins still in question, the team could be on the market for a new right winger this offseason. Until they moved the 2015 first-round pick to the first line on his off-wing, it was a position that was notably weak in 2021-22.
