    Who can replace Matt Cullen for the Pittsburgh Penguins?

    Veteran center Matt Cullen has decided to sign with the Minnesota Wild, his hometown team.  Cullen signed a one-year deal worth $1 million.  The 40-year-old will most likely be playing his last season in the 2017-2018 campaign, capping off an exceptional career. For the Pittsburgh Penguins, replacing Cullen will be a tough task.  Although he was only a fourth liner, Cullen was a top penalty killer and a leader in the locker room.  With Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Nick Bonino, and Cullen down the middle, the Penguins had the strongest center core over the past two seasons.     You may remember earlier this summer where we summarized who you should be rooting for if you were a Gopher Hockey fan in Da Beauty League—a summer hockey league featuring both college and professional players from the Upper Midwest. Well good news for Gophers fans is that the top four teams we said you should root for ended up playing in the league semi-finals on Monday night. And our overall #1 team will play for the league championship Wednesday night. One semifinal pitted our #2 team against our #3 team, Team Bic against Team Velocity. Velocity went up 2-0 early on a goal by former North Dakota player and current Boston Bruin Drew Stafford, and one by current Gopher defenseman Steve Johnson.
