For the first time in almost three months, Blues forward Nathan Walker scored a goal when he potted one in the second period of a 3-0 win over the Jets on Sunday night. It was Walker's second goal of the season and first since Dec. 19, in Vancouver. “It's always nice to score,” Walker said. Walker is not known for his scoring prowess, with 13 career goals in 98 NHL games, but he has been a regular presence in the Blues' lineup for his tenacity on pucks and physical presence despite his size.
After the first-ever win in the first-ever game, St Louis City SC president and CEO Carolyn Kindle shared a story. Right before the Major League Soccer season began, some media sites published predictions. This included The Athletic, which had seven soccer journalists pick City to finish last in the Western Conference. One writer said City would win only four games.
Blues defenseman Torey Krug avoided a fine from the NHL one day after he was ejected from Sunday's 3-0 win over Winnipeg for arguing a roughing call with officials. In the first period, Krug was assessed a game misconduct for hitting the glass inside the penalty box with his stick three times when he was handed a double-minor for roughing Winnipeg's Kevin Stenlund. Stenlund only received two minutes for roughing Krug, who tussled with Stenlund following an awkward hit on Blues forward Nathan Walker.
