The St. Louis Blues continued to assemble the coaching staff for Mike Yeo on Wednesday when they announced the hiring of former NHL defenseman Darryl Sydor. Sydor previously served as an assistant on Yeo’s staff for several years when he was the head coach of the Minnesota Wild. Before joining the Blues, Sydor was an assistant coach for the AHL’s Chicago Wolves this past season.
Pittsburgh Penguins center Matt Cullen has vivid memories of each of the six Game 7s he has played in the NHL, and not just because he won them all. “You don’t forget them,” Cullen said. “They stand out. It’s a different feel than any other game you play. They’re as fun as it gets.” Cullen will appear in his seventh Game 7 Thursday when the Penguins play host to the Ottawa Senators (8 p.m., ET, NBCSN) to decide the winner of the Eastern Conference final. Panther of the NHL will be participating once again in the annual Mascot Games, presented by Wawa and benefiting New Hope for Kids, on June 23-24 at the Amway Center in Orlando. The Mascot Games features approximately 30 mascots from college and pro sports teams across North America, competing in a variety of games. The family-friendly event is a fun time for everyone, kids and adults. Last year Stanley C. Panther once again did a good job, but his team -- The Fields Auto Group Red Team, captained by NJ Devil of the NHL New Jersey Devils -- did not win the team trophy.
