The first ever Fastest Goalie competition took place between Cam Ward(notes) of the Carolina Hurricanes and Tim Thomas(notes) of the Boston Bruins after the skaters had their turn during the NHL SuperSkills.
No groin or hamstring pulls to report, but Thomas did take a spill while making a turn, costing him victory:
Some conspiracy theorists believe that Thomas took a dive, literally, to help the hometown goaltender get the win and give the Carolina fans one more thing to cheer on the evening.
For those who watched at home, was the fastest goalie competition entertaining? Should each goaltender take part next year in Ottawa?
