With just one point through 15 games this season, Fiddler broke a 14-game pointless streak in a big way with his first NHL hat trick during a 5-4 win over the Calgary Flames. Fiddler completed the trick to give Phoenix a 5-2 lead with 1:38 to go, but the Flames scored twice in 29 seconds to make things interesting late. Lauri Korpikoski(notes) assisted on all three of Fiddler's goals and Ilya Bryzgalov(notes) made 31 saves to win for the first time in four starts.
After missing a week with a hand injury, Jones marked his return with a big night during Colorado's 5-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Antoine Vermette(notes) put the Blue Jackets up 1-0 early in the first, but Jones answered two minutes later to tie things up and later would score Colorado's final goal to cap off a three-point night. Greg Mauldin(notes) scored his first career goal in just his second NHL game since the 2003-04 season.
Ryan scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season as the Ducks improved their record at Honda Center to 7-1-1 with a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars. Ryan's power play goal with 10:24 in the third period gave Anaheim a 3-1 lead and his empty-netter with 14 seconds to go sealed the Ducks' sixth straight victory. Jonas Hiller(notes) made 27 saves for his fifth straight win.
Honorable mention: Two nights after "the shootout flub heard 'round the world", Ilya Kovalchuk(notes) completed a New Jersey comeback with an overtime winner against the Edmonton Oilers to earn their first win at Prudential Center this season. Colin Fraser(notes) scored twice in the first period to give Edmonton a 2-0 lead, but Alexander Vasyunov(notes) and Mattias Tedenby(notes) each scored their first NHL goals as part of the comeback. Martin Brodeur(notes) made 21 saves in his first game back from injury ... Marc-Andre Fleury recorded his first win since October 21st in a 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was his 150th career victory in the NHL. Sidney Crosby(notes), Pascal Dupuis(notes) and Max Talbot(notes) each scored an added an assist. Steven Stamkos'(notes) league-leading 15th goal was the only tally for Tampa Bay. Penguins rookie defenseman Deryk Engelland(notes) scored his first NHL goal ... Chris Higgins and Mike Santorelli(notes) scored 53 seconds apart in the first period and that ended up being just enough as the Florida Panthers edged the Minnesota Wild 2-1 ...
