Report: Kane skating at Sharks Ice away from teammates originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

As his NHL suspension nears its end, Evander Kane was back at the Sharks' facility and skating on Saturday, The Athletic's Kevin Kurz reported Sunday citing league sources.

Kane was suspended 21 games in mid-October over a violation of the NHL's COVID-19 health and safety protocol, reportedly due to his use of a fake vaccine card. Kane has served 17 games of that suspension, and will first be eligible to return to the active roster on Nov. 30 against the New Jersey Devils.

The rest of Kane's teammates were not with him at the team's facility per Kurz, as morning skates always are conducted from SAP Center.

Sharks coach Bob Boughner was asked about when Kane could re-join the team and did not offer much insight (H/T Curtis Pashelka).

“And that’s completely honest,” said Boughner. “I don’t have any information. You know, there are decisions that need to be made.”

The last time Boughner addressed Kane's status in October, he said he was unaware of the winger's whereabouts.

Kane has been a controversial player in recent years off the ice, but the 30-year-old led the Sharks with 49 points during the pandemic-shortened 2021 season.
