NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are six games scheduled for Tuesday night.

Forwards:

Connor McDavid (Edmonton) – C – $9,200 FanDuel, $9,000 DraftKings, $35 Yahoo

McDavid is expensive, but of course there’s a reason for that. He has 12 goals and 37 points in 20 games this season. While there are players who might be close to him when it comes to their price in daily leagues, there aren’t any players who are close to him in results. He’s leading the league’s scoring race by a margin of seven points.

Elias Pettersson (Vancouver) – C – $6,900 FanDuel, $5,500 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo

Pettersson is coming off a strong game where he scored a pair of goals against Winnipeg. He’s also been consistent lately, recording at least a point in 11 of his last 14 contests. That’s propelled him to seven goals and 16 points in 22 games.

Alex DeBrincat (Chicago) – W – $6,800 FanDuel, $7,500 DraftKings, $24 Yahoo

DeBrincat has played in 15 games this season and he’s recorded at least a point in 11 of those contests, so the vast majority of the time you’re going to get something noteworthy back if you go with him. He’s up to nine goals and 18 points in 15 contests this season. It’s shaping up to be a nice bounce back campaign for him after he finished 2019-20 with 45 points in 70 games.

Bargain Bin: Cam Atkinson (CLM) - $6,600 FanDuel/$6,400 DraftKings/$21 Yahoo, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (EDM) - $6,500 FanDuel/$7,100 DraftKings/$29 Yahoo, Nicklas Backstrom (WAS) - $6,400 FanDuel/$6,700 DraftKings/$23 Yahoo, Sam Reinhart (BUF) - $5,300 FanDuel/$4,700 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Jack Hughes (NJD) - $4,800 FanDuel/$5,300 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Boone Jenner (CLM) - $4,100 FanDuel/$3,600 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo.

Defensemen:

Darnell Nurse (Edmonton) - $5,800 FanDuel, $6,200 DraftKings, $22 Yahoo

Nurse has been great this season, scoring six goals and 16 points in 20 contests. He actually got off to a somewhat sluggish start, but he’s only been held off the scoresheet three times over his last 14 games.

Quinn Hughes (Vancouver) - $5,600 FanDuel, $5,700 DraftKings, $18 Yahoo

Hughes has two goals and 21 points in 22 contests, making this season a step up from his already impressive rookie campaign. He’s one of the league’s top offensive defensemen and he’s likely to be in that position for years to come.

Bargain Bin: Tyson Barrie (EDM) - $5,500 FanDuel/$6,400 DraftKings/$21 Yahoo, Ryan Ellis (NAS) - $5,200 FanDuel/$5,500 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Filip Hronek (DET) - $3,700 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$12 Yahoo, Mike Matheson (PIT) - $3,600 FanDuel/$3,400 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo

Goaltenders:

Mackenzie Blackwood (New Jersey) - $7,100 FanDuel, $7,800 DraftKings, $37 Yahoo

Blackwood is a fairly underrated goaltender. He was solid in his first two campaigns and is off to a great start in 2020-21 with a 4-1-1 record, 2.12 GAA, and .938 save percentage in six starts. He’ll also be up against the Buffalo Sabres, which have scored just seven goals in five games since returning from their time on the sidelines due to a COVID outbreak.

Bargain Bin: Juuse Saros (NAS) - $7,000 FanDuel/$8,200 DraftKings/$23 Yahoo
