NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are nine games scheduled for Tuesday.

Forwards:

Sidney Crosby (PIT) – C - $7,900 FanDuel, $7,200 DraftKings, $34 Yahoo

Crosby has been overshadowed in recent years by the likes of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Nathan MacKinnon, but there’s no question that he’s still one of the league’s elite forwards. Crosby has certainly been playing like one lately with four goals and 14 points in his last eight games. He’s up to 15 goals and 43 points in 37 contests.

Aleksander Barkov (FLA) – C - $7,800 FanDuel, $8,300 DraftKings, $34 Yahoo

Few people have been a more consistent threat than Barkov. He’s only been held off the scoresheet in back-to-back games once this season and that was nearly two months ago. More recently he’s recorded at least a point in 13 of his last 15 games, scoring seven goals and 21 points over that span. He’s contributed 14 goals and 40 points in 33 games this season.

T.J. Oshie (WAS) – W - $5,900 FanDuel, $5,000 DraftKings, $19 Yahoo

Oshie is red hot with four goals and seven points in six contests, making him a great pickup at that price point. He’s been solid overall too, having scored 11 goals and 27 points in 37 contests in 2020-21.

Vincent Trocheck (CAR) – C - $5,900 FanDuel, $6,800 DraftKings, $22 Yahoo

Trocheck is heading into today’s action on an incredible 10-game point streak. He’s contributed five goals and 13 points over that span. That’s pushed him up to 14 goals and 29 points in just 28 games this season.

Eeli Tolvanen (NAS) – W - $4,800 FanDuel, $4,600 DraftKings, $19 Yahoo

Tolvanen has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last eight games. He’s up to four goals and 10 points over that span. His 2020-21 total of 10 goals and 19 points in 30 contests isn’t great, but it’s not surprising given his price. It’s rare to find a player whose been on a hot streak this long at that price level, so he’s certainly worth a look.

Bargain Bin: Anthony Mantha (DET) - $4,600 FanDuel/$4,800 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Sam Reinhart (BUF) - $4,500 FanDuel/$4,300 DraftKings/$14 Yahoo, Jason Robertson (DAL) - $4,500 FanDuel/$5,200 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Anthony Beauvillier (NYI) - $4,400 FanDuel/$4,300 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Frank Vatrano (FLA) - $4,200 FanDuel/$4,400 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Jared McCann (PIT) - $4,100 FanDuel/$4,400 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo

Defensemen:

Adam Fox (NYR) - $5,900 FanDuel, $6,800 DraftKings, $25 Yahoo

From March 17 onward, Fox has been the league’s top defenseman offensively and it hasn’t even been close. He has two goals and an unreal 18 points in his last 10 games. The next best defenseman over that span has been Cale Makar with 11 points in 11 contests. Fox is still fairly well priced, making him a strong option to gamble on while he’s hot.

Ivan Provorov (PHI) - $5,300 FanDuel, $5,400 DraftKings, $19 Yahoo

For a relatively modest priced defenseman, Provorov has been a solid option this season with six goals and 20 points in 37 contests. What makes him particularly noteworthy right now though is that he’s on a roll with two goals and five points in his last four contests.

Bargain Bin: Zach Werenski (CBJ) - $5,200 FanDuel/$4,400 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Miro Heiskanen (DAL) - $4,600 FanDuel/$5,500 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Brett Pesce (CAR) - $4,300 FanDuel/$4,200 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Matt Grzelcyk (BOS) - $4,300 FanDuel/$5,100 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo

Goaltenders:

Martin Jones (SJS) - $7,800 FanDuel, $7,900 DraftKings, $28 Yahoo

There’s no question that Jones is a gamble. With a 14-7-2 record, 3.03 GAA, and .905 save percentage in 24 contests this season, he certainly isn’t one of the best. Still, there are reasons to consider him today. First off, for a goaltender he’s relatively cheap. He’s also been fairly good lately, winning his last four games and allowing just four goals over his last three starts. On top of that, the Sharks will be playing against Anaheim, who aren’t a particularly threatening team offensively. If there was ever a time to risk taking Jones, this would seem to be it.

Juuse Saros (NAS) - $7,600 FanDuel, $8,100 DraftKings, $35 Yahoo

Saros is a great pickup on FanDuel and DraftKings, where his price hasn’t caught up to his stellar play. He has an 11-7-0 record, 2.27 GAA, and .928 save percentage in 21 games this season and has been particularly good lately with an unreal .968 save percentage in his last eight contests. He’ll be up against the Detroit Red Wings tonight, who are typically not a strong opponent.

Bargain Bin: Jake Oettinger (DAL) - $7,400 FanDuel/$7,800 DraftKings/$31 Yahoo, Kevin Lankinen (CHI) - $7,200 FanDuel/$7,600 DraftKings/$27 Yahoo.
