NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

With there only being one game scheduled for tonight, the format is different. With FanDuel, you’ll be picking a Captain, who will give you 1.5x points, and four utility players with a budget of $55,000. DraftKings will have you pick a Captain worth 1.5x points and five flex players with a budget of $50,000. For Yahoo, you’ll be picking a Superstar worth 1.5x points and four flex players with a budget of $130. In other words, the terminology and budget changes from site-to-site, but the basic idea is the same throughout.

CAPTAIN/SUPERSTAR:

Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay) - $15,500 FanDuel, $15,500 DraftKings, $34 Yahoo

For your top pick, you’re going to want to go with the best and in this game, that’s Kucherov. While he missed the regular season, rust hasn’t been an issue in the playoffs. He already has three goals and 12 points in seven contests.

UTILITY/FLEX:

Steven Stamkos (Tampa Bay) - $12,500 FanDuel, $12,600 DraftKings, $28 Yahoo

If you wanted to go cheaper with your captain/superstar, Stamkos is also a decent candidate there. Stamkos has three goals and eight points in seven playoff contests this year. He was also very effective during the regular season with 17 goals and 34 points in 38 contests.

Dougie Hamilton (Carolina) - $11,000 FanDuel, $13,800 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

The Hurricanes don’t have a lot in the way of good options for a daily league right now, but Hamilton is one of the better ones. He was fantastic in the regular season with 10 goals and 42 points in 55 contests. During the playoffs he’s also been fairly effective with a goal and four points in seven games. If Carolina bounces back in Game 2, Hamilton is likely to be a part of that.

Barclay Goodrow (Tampa Bay) - $6,500 FanDuel, $5,700 DraftKings, $13 Yahoo

If you decide to take both Kucherov and Stamkos, adding Goodrow to your team will help balance things out. He’s an inexpensive option who made his return from an upper-body injury in the Lightning’s final game of round one and then scored the game-winning goal in Game 1 versus Carolina. Dating back to the regular season, he’s recorded at least a point in five of his last six contests.

Bargain Bin: Victor Hedman (TBL) - $10,500 FanDuel/$13,200 DraftKings/$24 Yahoo, Martin Necas (CAR) - $9,000 FanDuel/$10,200 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Alex Killorn (TBL) - $8,000 FanDuel/$9,600 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Blake Coleman (TBL) - $7,500 FanDuel/$7,200 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Jaccob Slavin (CAR) - $7,500 FanDuel/$8,700 DraftKings/$17 Yaho
