NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
There is only one game scheduled for tonight, which brings a different format. On FanDuel, you’ll be picking a Captain, who will give you 1.5x points, and four utility players with a budget of $55,000. DraftKings will have you pick a Captain worth 1.5x points and five flex players with a budget of $50,000. For Yahoo, you’ll be picking a Superstar worth 1.5x points and four flex players with a budget of $130. In other words, the terminology and budget changes from site-to-site, but the basic idea is the same throughout. It should also be noted that DraftKings and Yahoo allow you use goaltenders.
William Karlsson (Vegas) - $12,500 FanDuel, $11,400 DraftKings, $17 Yahoo
Given how low scoring the Golden Knights-Canadiens series has been, there really aren’t any ideal choices for your Captain/Superstar position. Karlsson has had a great playoff run though with four goals and 14 points in 17 contests and he’s been consistent, recording at least a point in seven of his last eight contests. Even in the semifinals where neither team’s stars have done well offensively, Karlsson has managed to contribute three assists.
Other Play: Alex Pietrangelo (Vegas) - $13,500 FanDuel, $15,600 DraftKings, $23 Yahoo

Paul Byron (Montreal) - $9,500 FanDuel, $4,500 DraftKings, $11 Yahoo
Byron hasn’t done much in the 2021 playoffs, but he’s been effective lately with two goals and an assist over his last three contests. His strong play in recent games combined with his low price in DraftKings and Yahoo makes him a pretty appealing option right now.
Mark Stone (Vegas) - $9,500 FanDuel, $11,700 DraftKings, $29 Yahoo
This is a bit of a different choice. Usually I want to ride the hot hand in daily leagues and Stone has gone five straight contests without a point. That being said he was the Golden Knights’ offensive leader in the regular season and to see him being available at $9,500 in FanDuel today makes him pretty enticing. At that point I see him as a strong value pick on that site.
Nicolas Roy (Vegas) - $8,500 FanDuel, $6,000 DraftKings, $13 Yahoo
Roy scored the overtime winner in Game 4, but he also accounted for the opening goal in Game 3. He’s not a standout forward offensively but given his recent success and the general lack of great options today, he’s worth considering.
Bargain Bin: Josh Anderson (MON) - $8,000 FanDuel/$7,500 DraftKings/$10 Yahoo, Jesperi Kotkaniemi (MON) - $7,500 FanDuel/$7,200 DraftKings/$10 Yahoo, Brayden McNabb (VGK) - $7,500 FanDuel/$5,700 DraftKings/$15 Yahoo, Eric Staal (MON) - $6,500 FanDuel/$4,200 DraftKings/$10 Yahoo
