NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

We have a busy schedule today with 11 games and that’s even after the Senators-Predators contest got postponed.

Forwards:

Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton) – C – $9,900 FanDuel, $9,100 DraftKings, $35 Yahoo

Draisaitl is extremely expensive, so there is some risk there when picking him, but it’s hard to argue with it given what he’s done. With 17 goals and 33 points in 15 contests, he’s on an unreal pace that few can even dream of. I’m recommending him over Connor McDavid given how hot Draisaitl is right now, particularly in terms of goals, but certainly McDavid is another good option. With how expensive they are, you can’t realistically take both of them so you have to pick a favorite and for now, mine is Draisaitl.

Kyle Connor (Winnipeg) – W – $8,900 FanDuel, $7,400 DraftKings, $31 Yahoo

If you’re looking for a star forward to headline your team that’s a touch cheaper, Connor is a good option. He’s on a four-game goal scoring streak so he’s on an amazing run and he’s having a great season overall with 12 goals and 20 points in 15 contests. In terms of goals, he’s in a three-way tie for second place in the league.

Andrei Svechnikov (Carolina) – W – $8,500 FanDuel, $7,100 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

Svechnikov has been a reliable contributor so far, recording at least a point in 12 of his first 14 games. That’s brought him up to seven goals and 18 points in 14 games. His consistency makes him a solid option at his price point.

William Nylander (Toronto) – W - $7,800 FanDuel, $7,500 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

Nylander is a touch of an underrated performer. He’s developed into a really solid top-six forward and is having a fantastic start to the season with seven goals and 16 points in 17 games. I’d recommend Svechnikov over Nylander on DraftKings and Yahoo, but on FanDuel it’s worth considering Nylander over Svechnikov if you’re looking to save funds for other players.

Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh) – C – $7,700 FanDuel, $7,400 DraftKings, $29 Yahoo

Between a wrist injury and his time on the COVID protocol, Crosby has only played in three games this season. He’s available now though and after logging time in Sunday and Tuesday’s contests, he should be back in the swing of things. It’s true that Crosby hasn’t done much this season, but he’s also a star forward available at a price lower than you’d usually get, so I like the idea of betting on him.

Timo Meier (San Jose) – W – $7,200 FanDuel, $6,000 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo

Meier is on a three-game point streak and has recorded at least a point in nine of his 10 contests this season. That gives him six goals and 14 points over that span. He’ll cool down eventually, but he’s great value while he’s hot.

Bargain Bin: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (EDM) - $7,000 FanDuel/$5,600 DraftKings/$24 Yahoo, Troy Terry (ANA) - $7,000 FanDuel/$5,500 DraftKings/$22 Yahoo, Chris Kreider (NYR) - $7,000 FanDuel/$6,100 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Oliver Bjorkstrand (CLM) - $6,700 FanDuel/$7,100 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Jordan Kyrou (STL) - $6,200 FanDuel/$5,400 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Tomas Hertl (SJS) - $6,100 FanDuel/$4,700 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Ryan Getzlaf (ANA) - $6,000 FanDuel/$5,500 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Roope Hintz (DAL) - $5,800 FanDuel/$5,600 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Jason Robertson (DAL) - $5,600 FanDuel/$5,100 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Alex Killorn (TBL) - $5,500 FanDuel/$5,700 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Ryan Strome (NYR) - $5,500 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Joe Pavelski (DAL) - $5,400 FanDuel/$5,100 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Martin Necas (CAR) - $5,200 FanDuel/$3,600 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo

Defensemen:

Adam Fox (NY Rangers) - $7,000 FanDuel, $7,500 DraftKings, $26 Yahoo

The 2020-21 Norris Trophy winner is playing like a contender to win the award again. He already has four goals and 16 points in 16 games this season. That puts him in a tie with Roman Josi for first place in the defensemen scoring race.

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay) - $6,700 FanDuel, $7,800 DraftKings, $25 Yahoo

Hedman is a bit on the pricy side on DraftKings, but he’s a good option in FanDuel and Yahoo. Even on DraftKings though, he’s worthy of consideration. He’s recorded at least a point in three of his last four games, scoring two goals and registering two assists over that span. That gives him two goals and 13 points in 14 contests this season.

Bargain Bin: Miro Heiskanen (DAL) - $6,400 FanDuel/$6,300 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Kris Letang (PIT) - $6,200 FanDuel/$7,000 DraftKings/$23 Yahoo, Torey Krug (STL) - $5,700 FanDuel/$5,800 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo

Goaltenders:

Jack Campbell (Toronto) - $8,700 FanDuel, $8,600 DraftKings, $38 Yahoo

Campbell has been near perfect lately in the most literal sense, allowing just one goal over his last three starts. He has a 9-3-1 record, 1.68 GAA, and .943 save percentage in 14 games, making him an early favorite for the Vezina Trophy.

Jacob Markstrom (Calgary) - $7,900 FanDuel, $8,500 DraftKings, $38 Yahoo

This is mostly a recommendation for FanDuel given his relatively cheap price, but he’s worth considering on DraftKings and Yahoo too. Although Markstrom has dropped his last three starts, he wasn’t bad in those games, allowing seven goals over those three games. He’s also having a strong season overall with a 1.82 GAA and .938 save percentage in 12 contests.

Bargain Bin: Connor Hellebuyck (WPG) - $7,700 FanDuel/$7,300 DraftKings/$24 Yahoo, Tristan Jarry (PIT) - $7,500 FanDuel/$8,100 DraftKings/$35 Yahoo, Carter Hart (PHI) - $7,400 FanDuel/$7,600 DraftKings/$33 Yahoo, James Reimer (SJS) - $7,000 FanDuel/$7,000 DraftKings/$34 Yahoo
