NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are two games in the NHL on Sunday.

Forwards

Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado) - C - $8,400 (FanDuel), $8,000 (Draft Kings), $34 (Yahoo)

MacKinnon caught a break as he was injured on January 31 and has missed only one game with his lower-body injury as the Avalanche have had their last five games postponed because of the coronavirus. MacKinnon had two goals and 14 points in 10 games and is raring to play Sunday.

Alex Ovechkin (Washington) - W - $8,400 (FanDuel), $7,800 (DraftKings), $35 (Yahoo)

Ovechkin missed four games earlier in the schedule as he was on the protocol list as a close contact but never picked up the virus. He has five goals and 12 points in only eight games and was especially hot with all five goals and 10 points in his last six. The Capitals have not played in a week as three games were postponed.

Bryan Rust (Pittsburgh) - W - $6,200 (FanDuel), $5,800 (DraftKings), $22 (Yahoo)

Rust has five points in his last five games, giving him three goals and 10 points in 12 games and tied with Sidney Crosby for the team lead in points. Rust is seeing top line minutes with Crosby and Jake Guentzel and that is a primo spot to be in. Rust also sees first unit time on the power play with Crosby and Evgeni Malkin as well as Guentzel and Kris Letang.

Bargain Bin: Nazem Kadri (Colorado) – C - $6,300 (FanDuel), $5,200 (Draft Kings), $18 (Yahoo), Cody Glass (Vegas) – C - $4,400 (FanDuel), $3,600 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo) Tom Wilson (Washington) – W - $5,200 (FanDuel) $4,700 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo), Chandler Stephenson (Washington) – C/W - $4,300 (FanDuel), $3,700 (Draft Kings), $19 (Yahoo)

Defensemen:

Cale Makar (Colorado) - $6,300 (FanDuel), $6,700 (DraftKings), $26 (Yahoo)

Makar is on a five-game points streak and has a goal and 11 assists in 11 games. The Avs have not played since February 2 and Makar should be chomping on the bit as COVID-19 has taken a huge toll on the Colorado schedule. The whole team is fresh and ready to play the Golden Knights.

John Carlson (Washington) - $7,200 (FanDuel), $6,200 (DraftKings), $24 (Yahoo)

Carlson has four goals and 11 points in 12 games but has had a tough go of things in his last two contests, going pointless with a minus-five rating. That was in the last 7-10 days as the Caps have not played since February 7. He is worth a spot in your DFS lineup.

Bargain Bin:

Alec Martinez (Vegas) - $4,300 (FanDuel), $5,600 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo), Devon Toews (Colorado) $4,700 (FanDuel), $5,200 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Philipp Grubauer (Colorado) - $8,500 (FanDuel), $6,900 (Draft Kings), $39 (Yahoo)

Grubauer is on a four-game winning streak and is 7-2-0 with a 1.67 GAA and a .934 save percentage this season. There are not a lot of choices Sunday as there are only two games but Grubauer looks to be the one to play in DFS.

Other plays: Marc-Andre Fleury (Vegas) - $8,800 (FanDuel), $8,200 (DraftKings), $36 (Yahoo)
