NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBCSports Edge’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are four games in the NHL on Sunday.
Mark Scheifele (Winnipeg) - C - $8,000 (FanDuel), $7,100 (Draft Kings), $27 (Yahoo)
With all the scoring stars in the North Division (McDavid, Draisaitl, Matthews and Marner) Scheifele gets overlooked at times but the center is one of the best in the NHL. He has picked up a point in all nine February games and has nine goals and 23 points in 17 contests, including six goals and 13 points in his February games as well as goals in each of his last four.
James van Riemsdyk (Philadelphia) - W - $6,400 (FanDuel), $5,900 (DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo)
JVR saw his seven-game points streak end on Thursday but still has seven goals and 18 points in 14 games this season. He is off to the best start of his NHL career and will start the Outdoor Game on the top line with Sean Couturier and Joel Farabee.
Joel Farabee (Philadelphia) - W - $5,100 (FanDuel), $4,800 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)
Since we mentioned Farabee with van Riemsdyk, adding Couturier to your fantasy lineup gives you the whole line. Farabee is having an outstanding sophomore season with seven goals and 13 points in 14 games. He has been hot of late with five goals and eight points in his last five games. The Flyers are missing Giroux, Voracek and Konecny from their lineup as all three are still on the COVID protocol list and that should give Farabee extra time on the ice as well as their top power play.
Bargain Bin: Kevin Hayes (Philadelphia) – C - $6,400 (FanDuel), $6,300 (Draft Kings), $20 (Yahoo), Jack Hughes (New Jersey) – C - $5,100 (FanDuel), (DraftKings), $13 (Yahoo) Michael Raffl (Philadelphia) – W - $3,200 (FanDuel) $3,000 (DraftKings), $11 (Yahoo), Evgenii Dadonov (Ottawa) – W - $5,500 (FanDuel), $3,400 (Draft Kings), $15 (Yahoo)
Charlie McAvoy (Boston) - $5,400 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo)
McAvoy has taken over from the departed Torey Krug, quarterbacking the Bruins first power play and the defenseman has taken off offensively with a goal and 12 points in 15 games. His best season had him picking up 32 points (which he has done twice in his first three seasons) and he could easily break that mark this season despite the shortened schedule.
John Carlson (Washington) - $6,800 (FanDuel), (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo)
Carlson has only one assist in his last six games so he is ready for a breakout game. He had four goals and 11 points in his first 10 games after a 15 goal, 75-point season last year in only 69 contests. He has at least 68 points in each of his last three seasons but due to the 56-game schedule this year, he will be hard pressed to get more than 50-55 points.
Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg) - $8,300 (FanDuel), $7,400 (Draft Kings), $34 (Yahoo)
Hellebuyck will look to get back into the win column Sunday as the Jets head to Vancouver to face the Canucks. He is 7-5-1 with a 2.61 GAA and a .916 save percentage, excellent stats in the high-scoring North Division and is worth taking as your netminder in DFS Sunday.
Other plays: Jake Allen (Montreal) - $8,600 (FanDuel), $8,000 (DraftKings), $36 (Yahoo)
