NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports Edge’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster five players (a captain at 1.5 times the value and four other players and no goaltenders) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for six players (a captain at 1-5 times the value and five other players). Yahoo has a $130 cap for five players (a superstar at 1.5 times the value as well as four other players).

The Vegas Golden Knights face the Montreal Canadiens in the only game Sunday.

Players

Alex Pietrangelo (Vegas) - $14,000 (FanDuel), $14,400 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo)

After a tough regular season, Pietrangelo has shown Golden Knights fans that he was worth the seven-year/$61.6 million deal that the two sides signed in the off-season. Pietrangelo has four goals and 11 points in 16 games with all four goals coming in the last four games. Pietrangelo has eight points in his last seven games and should be in your DFS lineup Sunday.

Alec Martinez (Vegas) - $10,000 (FanDuel), $12,600 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo)

Martinez leads the Golden Knights with two power play goals, and while that’s good news for Martinez, it is not good news for Vegas as they have scored only four times in 38 chances in the playoffs. Martinez has five points including three goals in 16 games. The playoffs have been low-scoring affairs so take your points wherever you can get them.

William Karlsson (Vegas) - $11,500 (Fan Duel), $11,700 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)

Karlsson leads the Golden Knights in playoff scoring with 13 points. He saw his six-game point streak come to an end on Friday, after he had two goals and six helpers in the six games. Karlsson led the Golden Knights in power play time-on-ice in the regular season and has played close to as well as he did three years ago when he had a career year, scoring 43 goals and 78 points with a plus-49 rating.

Shea Theodore (Vegas) - $9,000 (FanDuel), $11,400 (DraftKings), $24 (Yahoo)

Theodore has a goal and seven assists in 16 games and while he has not had a point in the last two games, both losses to Montreal, He had a goal and four points in his previous two contests, one the series-clincher versus Colorado as well as Game 1 against the Canadiens. Theodore was the Golden Knights offensive star on the blueline during the regular season with eight goals and 42 points in 53 games.

Cole Caufield (Montreal) - $9,500 (FanDuel), $10,500 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)

J.J. Watts' favorite player, Caufield has a five-game point streak with two goals and three assists. He has been a revelation since turning pro in April after a very successful two-year career at the University of Wisconsin where he won the Hobey Baker Award in 2021. Caufield is the offensive star the Canadiens have been lacking for years. He has two goals and seven points in 12 playoff games this season.

Carey Price (Montreal) – $15,300 (DraftKings), $30 (Yahoo)

There are no goaltenders in FanDuel so this is just for Draft Kings and Yahoo. Price has been everything the Canadiens could have hoped for in the Stanley Cup playoffs as he is 10-4 with a 2.10 GAA and a .932 save percentage for what was considered the worst playoff team entering the post-season. But his outstanding netminding has kept the Canadiens in each series and he could be good enough to upset the Golden Knights in the semifinals as he has already won two games with Game 4 on Sunday night.

Bargain Bin:

Tyler Toffoli (Montreal) - $14,500 (FanDuel), $13,500 (Draft Kings), $20 (Yahoo), Artturi Lehkonen (Montreal) – $7,500 (FanDuel), $7,200 (DraftKings), $14 (Yahoo), Reilly Smith (Vegas) - $8,500 (FanDuel), $9,300 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)
