NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports Edge’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are two games in the NHL Sunday.

Forwards

Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado) - C - $8,800 (FanDuel), $8,600 (Draft Kings), $35 (Yahoo)

MacKinnon was brilliant in the Avalanche’s sweep of the Blues in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs as he had six goals and nine points in four games. He was outstanding as well in the 2020-21 regular season with 20 goals and 65 points in 48 games. He had only two goals and six points in eight regular season games against the Golden Knights but will look to improve upon that, starting Sunday.

Mikko Rantanen (Colorado) - W - $7,900 (FanDuel), $7,500 (DraftKings), $34 (Yahoo)

Rantanen had a goal and seven points in four games against St. Louis as he had a point in each of the four contests. He had 30 goals and 66 points in 52 games but struggled against Vegas with only four assists in seven games. I like taking a whole line in DFS and the Rantanen, MacKinnon and Landeskog unit is the best on Sunday.

Gabriel Landeskog (Colorado) -W- $7,100 (Fan Duel), $5,800 (Draft Kings), $30 (Yahoo)

The third member of the line, Landeskog had a pair of goals and eight points in the four-game sweep versus St. Louis after a 20-goal and 52-point season in 2020-21. He had a goal and an assist in six games against the Golden Knights in the regular season. Landeskog is a bargain in Draft Kings Sunday.

Bargain Bin: Chandler Stephenson (Vegas) - C - $4,900 (FanDuel), $4,200 (Draft Kings), $19

(Yahoo) J.T. Compher (Colorado) – C - $3,500 (FanDuel) $2,600 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo), Alex Killorn (Tampa Bay) – W - $5,300 (FanDuel), $4,000 (Draft Kings), $18 (Yahoo), Mattias Janmark (Vegas) – W - $3,300 (FanDuel), $2,900 (DraftKings), $13 (Yahoo)

Defensemen:

Dougie Hamilton (Carolina) - $6,300 (FanDuel), $6,300 (DraftKings), $27 (Yahoo)

Hamilton has been one of the best offensive defensemen in the last two seasons as he had 10 goals and 42 points in 55 games after picking up 40 points in 2019-20 in only 47 contests. Hamilton had a goal and four points against Nashville in the first round of the playoffs and had five assists in eight games against Tampa Bay in the regular season.

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay) - $6,500 (FanDuel), $5,500 (DraftKings), $24 (Yahoo)

The NHL’s best defenseman has been hampered by an injury this season, but that did not prevent him from picking up eight assists in the opening round against the Florida Panthers in only six games. Hedman had nine goals and 45 points in 54 games but as mentioned earlier, was slowed down by a lower-body injury that will need attention once the playoffs are completed. He had a goal and four assists against the Hurricanes in seven regular season games this season.

Bargain Bin:

Alec Martinez (Vegas) - $4,600 (FanDuel), $5,000 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo), Erik Cernak (Tampa Bay) - $3,600 (FanDuel), $3,400 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay) - $8,000 (FanDuel), $7,500 (DraftKings), $37 (Yahoo)

Vasilevskiy is the top goalkeeper in the NHL as he went 31-10-1 with a 2.21 GAA and a .925 save percentage in the regular season and followed it up with a 4-2 record over Florida in the opening round with a 2.64 GAA and a .929 save percentage. He was 3-3-1 against the Hurricanes, giving up 15 goals on 223 shots.

Other plays: Marc-Andre Fleury (Vegas) - $7,400 (FanDuel), $7,200 (Draft Kings), $34 (Yahoo)
