NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBCSports Edge’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are 14 games in the NHL on Saturday.

Forwards

Sean Couturier (Philadelphia), C $7,500 (FanDuel), $6,800 (Draft Kings), $23 (Yahoo)

Couturier has been the Flyers best offensive threat this season, along with linemates Claude Giroux and Travis Konecny but the 28-year-old pivot has only one goal and no assists in his last four games. Still, Couturier has five goals and 12 points in 12 games for the 7-3-2 Flyers as they are in Dallas to take on the Stars Saturday.

Aleksander Barkov (Florida), C $8,600 (FanDuel), $7,400 (Draft Kings), $32 (Yahoo)

Barkov is on an eight-game points streak with seven goals and 10 points and has only been held off the scoresheet twice in 13 games. The talented center is one of the best in the NHL and has nine goals and 15 points this season.

Andrei Svechnikov (Carolina), W $8,700 (FanDuel), $7,100 (Draft Kings), $27 (Yahoo)

Svechnikov is off to a great start with seven goals and 15 points in only 12 games. He had an off-year last season as he managed to scored only 15 times in 55 games but has got his game back together again this season. He is a must start and a great bargain in Draft Kings.

Drake Batherson (Ottawa), W $6,100 (FanDuel), $5,700 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo)

Batherson has five goals and 12 points in 13 games this season and has been held off the scoresheet in his last two games so he is due. He has been a stud on the top line with Josh Norris and new captain Brady Tkachuk and should be in your lineup, especially in Yahoo.

Timo Meier (San Jose), C/W $6,800 (FanDuel), $6,900 (Draft Kings), $19 (Yahoo)

It looks like Meier will finally return to action on Saturday after missing almost two weeks in COVID protocol. Before the illness, Meier was on fire, scoring five goals and adding six assists in only eight games. He is nicely priced in FanDuel and Yahoo.

Bargain Bin: Jeff Carter (Pittsburgh), C $6,600 (FanDuel), $5,500 (Draft Kings), $21 (Yahoo), Dawson Mercier (New Jersey), C $5,300 (FanDuel), $10,200 (Draft Kings), $16 (Yahoo), Phillip Danault (Los Angeles), C $4,400 (FanDuel) $3,500 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo), Jordan Eberle (Seattle), W $5,700 (FanDuel), $4,900 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo), Jaden Schwartz (Seattle), W $4,700 (FanDuel), $3,900 (Draft Kings), $15 (Yahoo)

Defensemen:

Adam Fox (NY Rangers), $7,000 (FanDuel), $7,500 (Draft Kings), $26 (Yahoo)

Last season’s Norris Trophy winner, Fox has not let up to start the 2021-22 season, as he has three goals and 13 points in 13 games. Fox has two goals and eight points in his last six games and is the offensive engine from the blueline that powers the Rangers power play. Despite the price, Fox is a welcomed addition to any DFS lineup.

Anthony DeAngelo (Carolina), $5,200 (FanDuel), $4,700 (Draft Kings), $19 (Yahoo)

It looks like DeAngelo has left all his off-ice problems behind him and is showing the rest of the league that he is an elite offensive threat from the blueline. DeAngelo has two goals and 11 points in 12 games for the Hurricanes and has made Canes fans easily forget the offensive play of former Carolina blueliner Dougie Hamilton.

Devon Toews (Colorado), $4,400 (FanDuel), $4,300 (Draft Kings), $18 (Yahoo)

Toews is back after missing the start of the season recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. He was held off the scoresheet in his opener but had a goal and an assist in his second game back. Toews is playing alongside Cale Makar and is greatly priced in both Fan Duel and Yahoo.

Bargain Bin:

Thomas Chabot (Ottawa), $5,100 (FanDuel), $6,700 (Draft Kings), $18 (Yahoo), Colin Miller (Buffalo), $3,800 (FanDuel), $4,000 (Draft Kings), $12 (Yahoo), Jared Spurgeon (Minnesota), $4,800 (FanDuel), $5,600 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo), Nicolas Hague (Vegas), $4,000 (FanDuel), $3,900 (Draft Kings), $14 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Elvis Merzlikins (Columbus), $7,200 (FanDuel), $7,500 (Draft Kings), $37 (Yahoo)

Merzlikins has been a big surprise this season as he is 5-1-0 with a 1.98 GAA and a .940 save percentage. He is the Blue Jackets goalie of the present and future after inking a five-year deal in the off-season. He has only played once in the last two weeks as the Blue Jackets have had a light schedule and is ready for his showdown with the Rangers at home.

Juuse Saros (Nashville), $7,700 (FanDuel), $8,500 (Draft Kings), $36 (Yahoo)

The Predators take on lowly Arizona Saturday as Saros is poised to get the start. Saros is 6-4-1 with a 2.28 GAA and a .925 save percentage as he is currently a top-ten goalie in the NHL. This is a good spot to start him in DFS.

Other plays:

Casey DeSmith (Pittsburgh), $7,900 (FanDuel), $8,000 (Draft Kings), $22 (Yahoo), Thatcher Demko (Vancouver), $7,500 (FanDuel), $7,300 (Draft Kings), $30 (Yahoo)
