NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBCSports Edge’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are 11 games in the NHL on Saturday.
Connor McDavid (Edmonton) - C - $9,200 (FanDuel), $9,100 (Draft Kings), $35 (Yahoo)
McDavid, believe it or not, does have some games when he is held off the scoresheet. It just doesn’t ever seem that way. McDavid leads the NHL in points with 56 after scoring both goals Thursday in a 2-1 win over Saturday’s opponents, the Winnipeg Jets. McDavid is on an eight-game scoring streak and has six goals and 18 points during the streak.
Mika Zibanejad (New York Rangers) – C - $6,800 (FanDuel), $6,600 (Draft Kings), $24 (Yahoo)
It has been a horrible season for Zibanejad who went into Wednesday’s second period with only three goals and 11 points in 28 games. But he tied an NHL record for points in one period with six, including three goals against the Flyers to give his stats a huge boost. He has been playing better of late and is valued well enough to be considered Saturday.
Evander Kane (San Jose) - W - $7,100 (FanDuel), $6,100 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo)
Kane has been in the middle of bankruptcy filings this past week but has still managed to score four times and add three helpers in his last six games to give him 12 goals and 26 points in 28 contests. He is the Sharks best fantasy player and is nicely valued, especially in Yahoo.
Pavel Buchnevich (New York Rangers) - W - $5,400 (FanDuel), $5,000 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo)
Buchnevich was held pointless Friday but he has been quite hot before that as he had three goals and six points in his previous two contests. Buchnevich is having his best season in his NHL career and it comes at a perfect time as he will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Buchnevich is playing with Zibanejad as well as Chris Kreider and taking a complete line is not the worst strategy in the world.
Rickard Rakell (Anaheim) – W - $5,600 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)
Rakell’s name is being bandied about in trade rumors and he finally returned to the scoresheet Thursday with a pair of assists after going the four previous games with nary a point. Rakell has six goals and 21 points in 31 games and went through a six-game scoring streak at the end of February through March 8 where he had five of his six goals and seven assists.
Bargain Bin: Brock Nelson (NY Islanders) – C - $5,600 (FanDuel), $5,800 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo), Jack Roslovic (Columbus) – C - $4,500 (FanDuel), $3,900 (DraftKings), $14 (Yahoo) Calle Jarnkrok (Nashville) – W - $3,500 (FanDuel) $2,900 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo), Martin Necas (Carolina) – W - $4,600 (FanDuel), $4,900 (Draft Kings), $20 (Yahoo)
Dougie Hamilton (Carolina) - $6,400 (FanDuel), $7,300 (DraftKings), $27 (Yahoo)
Hamilton is red-hot of late and is on a ten-game points streak, with two goals and 10 assists including his first ever shorthanded goal. Hamilton has three goals and 23 points in 29 games and has been one of the top scorers from the blueline the last two seasons.
Tyson Barrie (Edmonton) - $6,200 (FanDuel), $6,300 (DraftKings), $26 (Yahoo)
Barrie had a pair of assists Thursday, giving him six helpers in the last two games. He has taken over the points lead among defensemen from Victor Hedman as he leads the Tampa Bay blueliner by one with 30 points, including four goals. It really helps being on the same team as Leon Draisaitl and of course Connor McDavid.
Jamie Drysdale (Anaheim) - $3,500 (FanDuel), $2,500 (DraftKings), $14 (Yahoo)
Drysdale had an NHL debut to remember on Thursday as he scored once and added an assist, giving Anaheim fans a glimpse at his vast potential. He is so inexpensive in all DFS games that he makes a great play everywhere. Drysdale is only 18 and was taken sixth overall in 2020. They are not rushing him at this time as he was terrific in the AHL and the OHL season has yet to begin.
Seth Jones (Columbus) - $5,100 (FanDuel), $4,800 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo), Filip Hronek (Detroit) $4,000 (FanDuel), $4,500 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo), Ryan Pulock (New York Islanders) - $4,600 (FanDuel), $4,900 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo)
Kaapo Kahkonen (Minnesota) - $7,900 (FanDuel), $7,200 (Draft Kings), $35 (Yahoo)
Kahkonen has been a major reason for the resurgence of the Minnesota Wild this season. Kahkonen has won his last nine starts in a row, giving up only 13 goals on 246 shots and has two shutouts in his last three games. He is a must start, even though the Wild are in Colorado to face the high-flying Avalanche.
Chris Driedger (Florida) - $7,800 (FanDuel), $7,800 (DraftKings), $32 (Yahoo)
Driedger gets his first start in goal since March 7 as Sergei Bobrovsky has started and finished the last five games in a row. Driedger will be looking to make amends as he is 0-2-1 in his last three starts after starting the season at 7-1-1. The Panthers take on the Predators Saturday.
