NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBCSports Edge’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).
There are 10 games in the NHL on Saturday.
Auston Matthews (Toronto) - C - $8,500 (FanDuel), $8,400 (Draft Kings), $34 (Yahoo)
It has not been a great start to the season for the reigning Rocket Richard Trophy winner as Matthews started by missing the first three games recovering from off-season wrist surgery and has only one goal and an assist in five games. The Maple Leafs get a tired Red Wings team at home after Detroit lost 3-2 to Florida in overtime Friday night.
Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado) – C - $9,000 (FanDuel), $8,600 (Draft Kings), $35 (Yahoo)
MacKinnon was a minus-seven after his first two games this season but his play has improved since then. He has a goal and seven points in only five games this season and will play alongside Gabriel Landeskog and Andre Burakovsky as Mikko Rantanen appears to still be injured.
David Perron (St. Louis) - W - $7,700 (FanDuel), $6,400 (DraftKings), $25 (Yahoo)
Perron is off to a great start with six goals and eight points in six games as he has been the Blues top offensive threat this season. The Blues take on the tired Chicago Blackhawks who are playing their second game in two nights and are under the gun from the fallout of the sex scandal that happened 11 years ago and rocked the hockey world this week.
Zach Hyman (Edmonton) - W - $6,800 (FanDuel), $5,700 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo)
Hyman has hit the jackpot in Edmonton, playing alongside Connor McDavid on the top line. The former Leaf has six goals and an assist in six games as he is heading towards the best offensive season of his career. He is well-priced in DraftKings.
William Nylander (Toronto) - W - $6,900 (FanDuel), $6,500 (DraftKings), $25 (Yahoo)
Nylander has three goals and six points in eight games and is playing with Auston Matthews and Michael Bunting on the Leafs top line. I like taking lines in DFS and the trio makes a nice play on Saturday night.
Bargain Bin: Tomas Hertl (San Jose) – C/W - $5,500 (FanDuel), $5,200 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo), Evan Rodrigues (Pittsburgh) – C - $4,000 (FanDuel), $4,200 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo) Andrew Copp (Winnipeg) – C/W - $5,700 (FanDuel) $6,100 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo), Kevin Fiala (Minnesota) – W - $5,900 (FanDuel), $6,300 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo), Michael Bunting (Toronto) – W- $4,200 (FanDuel), $4,000 (Draft Kings), $17 (Yahoo)

Cale Makar (Colorado) - $6,800 (FanDuel), $6,500 (DraftKings), $23 (Yahoo)
Makar is an outstanding talent and the third-year pro has two goals and six points in seven games to date. Makar is always an offensive threat and because of that, needs to always be considered in DFS contests. As an added note, it's his 23rd birthday.
Morgan Rielly (Toronto) - $5,900 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo)
Rielly inked an eight-year deal worth $60 million on Friday so there is plenty to celebrate. The blueliner has four assists in eight games this season and is fairly priced on Saturday to put in your lineup.
Torey Krug (St. Louis) - $5,600 (FanDuel), $4,900 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)
Krug had a tough go of it last season, his first in St. Louis as he was likely trying to do too much to replace the departed Alex Pietrangelo. Krug has five assists in six games thus far and has been a major force in the Blues 5-1 start this season.
Ivan Provorov (Philadelphia) - $4,900 (FanDuel), $5,000 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo), Mike Matheson (Pittsburgh) $3,600 (FanDuel), $3,800 (Draft Kings), $13 (Yahoo), Derek Forbort (Boston) - $3,800 (FanDuel), $2,800 (Draft Kings), $12 (Yahoo), Rasmus Sandin (Toronto) $3,500 (FanDuel), $2,500 (DraftKings), $10 (Yahoo)
Tristan Jarry (Pittsburgh) - $7,700 (FanDuel), $8,000 (Draft Kings), $34 (Yahoo)
Jarry has been great for an undermanned Pittsburgh squad all season. Jarry is 3-1-1 this season with a 1.78 GAA and a .933 save percentage. The Penguins are hoping to get Sidney Crosby and Jeff Carter back in the lineup Saturday night and that will definitely help the chances of Jarry picking up a win.
Carter Hart (Philadelphia) - $7,200 (FanDuel), $7,200 (DraftKings), $27 (Yahoo)
Hart had a year to forget last season with a 3.67 GAA and has come back nicely thus far as he is 2-1-1 with a 2.73 GAA and a .915 save percentage. The Flyers are 4-1-1 this season and are looking to sweep Western Canada after wins over Edmonton and Vancouver earlier in the week.
