NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBCSports Edge’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL). Yahoo has a $200 cap for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are 12 games in the NHL on Saturday.

Forwards

Auston Matthews (Toronto) - C - $8,800 (FanDuel), $8,700 (DraftKings), $34 (Yahoo)

It has not been a great start to the season for the reigning Rocket Richard Trophy winner as Matthews started by missing the first three games recovering from off-season wrist surgery and then has been pointless in the first two games of his campaign. Matthews has 11 shots on goal in two outings and should be ready for a breakout against the undermanned Penguins.

Nazem Kadri (Colorado) – C - $5,600 (FanDuel), $4,800 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)

Kadri had four points in his first two games playing on the top line but is pointless in his last two after the return of Nathan MacKinnon to the lineup. He is still seeing second line minutes and should be a nice play at his price.

Kyle Connor (Winnipeg) - W - $7,400 (FanDuel), $6,900 (DraftKings), $24 (Yahoo)

There are not too many players hotter than the underrated Connor who has five goals and seven points in four games including a pair of two goal, one assist games in his last two contests. Connor has 17 shots on goal in the four games and has Pierre-Luc Dubois and Evgeny Svechnikov as his linemates with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler out of action in COVID protocol.

Jordan Eberle (Seattle) - W - $4,800 (FanDuel), $4,900 (DraftKings), $12 (Yahoo)

Tonight is Seattle’s first home game in franchise history and everyone should be pumped as much as the crowd will be as they face Vancouver. Eberle is one of the Kraken’s top offensive threats and while he has yet to score, Saturday night should be special for the city of Seattle and Eberle has yet to break out.

Andrei Svechnikov (Carolina) - W - $8,300 (FanDuel), $6,600 (DraftKings), $26 (Yahoo)

Svechnikov had a tougher season in 2020-21 with only 15 goals and 42 points in 55 games but the 21-year-old has busted loose again this season as he has scored in all three games and has four goals and five points. Svechnikov is playing with Vincent Trocheck and Martin Necas on the second line and sees first line power play time.

Bargain Bin: Teddy Blueger (Pittsburgh) – C - $3,500 (FanDuel), $2,700 (Draft Kings), $12 (Yahoo), Jason Spezza (Toronto) – C/W - $4,000 (FanDuel), $3,000 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo) Mike Hoffman (Montreal) – W - $4,600 (FanDuel) $4,300 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo), Owen Tippett (Florida) – W - $3,400 (FanDuel), $2,700 (Draft Kings), $ 14 (Yahoo)

Defensemen:

Dougie Hamilton (New Jersey) - $6,600 (FanDuel), $6,800 (DraftKings), $28 (Yahoo)

Hamilton is with the Devils as they take on Buffalo Saturday. He has one goal in three games with his new team after a huge 10-goal, 42-point season in 55 games with the Hurricanes last season. Hamilton quarterbacks the New Jersey power play which will be better this season with Hamilton back there.

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay) - $7,000 (FanDuel), $6,900 (DraftKings), $24 (Yahoo)

It’s another great start to the season for Hedman who has six assists in four games to date after a 45-point season in 2020-21 in 54 games. He was injured for the latter half and all of the playoffs last season and required off-season knee surgery. He is showing no ill effects from the surgery, making him, as usual, a great DFS play.

Colton Parayko (St. Louis) - $4,100 (FanDuel), $5,400 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)

A great bargain in FanDuel, Parayko has two assists in three games after an injury-plagued 2020-21 season that cost him 24 games in the 56-game schedule. Parayko had back-to-back 10 goal seasons in the previous two seasons.

Bargain Bin:

Rasmus Dahlin (Buffalo) - $4,500 (FanDuel), $4,500 (DraftKings), $14 (Yahoo), Quinn Hughes (Vancouver) $6,400 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings), $14 (Yahoo), Keith Yandle (Philadelphia) - $4,800 (FanDuel), $3,600 (Draft Kings), $16 (Yahoo), Jeff Petry (Montreal) $4,600 (FanDuel), $5,000 (DraftKings), $12 (Yahoo)

Goaltenders:

Juuse Saros (Nashville) - $8,200 (FanDuel), $7,400 (DraftKings), $35 (Yahoo)

Saros is only 1-3-0 but that is more of the way the Predators have scored (or really have not) as he has a 2.05 GAA and a .928 save percentage, both of which are outstanding peripherals. Saros took over last season from the now-retired Pekka Rinne as he went 21-11-1 with a 2.28 GAA and a .927 save percentage. They face Winnipeg on Saturday who likely will be missing both Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler.

Philipp Grubauer (Seattle) - $7,100 (FanDuel), $7,700 (DraftKings), $29 (Yahoo)

For the same reason it is a good idea to take Eberle up front, Grubauer will be pumped up for the Kraken’s inaugural home start. Grubauer is 1-2-1 with a 4.01 GAA and a .867 save percentage with Seattle this season, but was a Vezina Trophy finalist last season with Colorado and still has a good pedigree.

Other plays:

Frederik Andersen (Carolina) - $7,800 (FanDuel), $8,100 (DraftKings), $31 (Yahoo), Dustin Tokarski (Buffalo) - $6,500 (FanDuel), $6,900 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo)
