NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).
Monday has eight games on the schedule.
Auston Matthews (Toronto) - C - $9,000 (FanDuel), $9,200 (DraftKings), $35 (Yahoo)
Matthews will occupy a big part of the cap in all daily fantasy formats, but he’s been on quite the heater and there’s a strong case to be made for building a roster around him. He has racked up seven goals and 10 points during a four-game point streak. Matthews has a multi-point performance in each of those matches and he has nine points (three goals, six assists) in five previous matches against Montreal this year.
Gabriel Landeskog (Colorado) - W - $7,000 (FanDuel), $7,200 (DraftKings), $27 (Yahoo)
Landeskog was on a long scoring tear as well prior to going two games without a point. He made up for that with a three-point effort versus Anaheim on Sunday to reach 500 career points. Landeskog should be able to carry that momentum into Monday’s slate in the second half of a back-to-back situation on Monday for Colorado and Arizona. The Avalanche captain has five goals and three helpers in seven contests against the Coyotes this year.
Ryan O'Reilly (St. Louis) - C - $6,300 (FanDuel), $5,900 (DraftKings), $22 (Yahoo)
O’Reilly has been impressive during the Blues’ series versus Minnesota with four goals and one assist through the first two matches of a three-game set. The St. Louis captain has scored seven goals and eight points in his last eight outings.
Andrew Copp (Winnipeg) - W - $4,100 (FanDuel), $5,200 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)
Copp has collected three goals and three assists during a four-game point spree. He has 11 shots and three power-play points (one goal, two assists) during that span. Copp, who has amassed nine markers and 14 points in his last 11 outings, is in a great spot as a top-six forward. He has plenty of bang for the buck upside on Monday night versus Ottawa. Copp has two goals and four helpers in six previous matches against the Senators this campaign.
Bargain Bin: Connor Brown (OTT) - W - $3,900 (FanDuel), $4,000 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo), Kevin Labanc (SJ) - W - $4,500 (FanDuel), $4,700 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo), Martin Necas (CAR) - W - $5,000 (FanDuel), $5,600 (DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo), Alex Galchenyuk (TOR) - W - $3,700 (FanDuel), $3,600 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo), Adam Erne (DET) - W - $3,500 (FanDuel), $2,800 (DraftKings), $15 (Yahoo), Michael Bunting (ARI) - W - $3,300 (FanDuel), $3,900 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo)
Dougie Hamilton (Carolina) - $6,400 (FanDuel), $7,700 (DraftKings), $28 (Yahoo)
Hamilton has three goals and three assists in his last six contests since his 14-game point streak was snapped. That includes one goal and one assist in a shootout loss to Detroit on Saturday. Hamilton, who has some pricey cap hits, has produced two goals and five helpers in six games versus the Red Wings this season.
Bargain Bin: Jakob Chychrun (ARI) - $4,900 (FanDuel), $20 (Yahoo), Alec Martinez (VGK) - $4,500 (FanDuel), $5,500 (DraftKings), $20 (Yahoo), Morgan Rielly (TOR) - $5,200 (FanDuel), $5,400 (DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo), Vince Dunn (STL) - $3,800 (FanDuel), $3,700 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)
Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg) - $7,700 (FanDuel), $8,000 (DraftKings), $36 (Yahoo)
Hellebuyck has been playing very well and he has a good blend of cap hits for Monday night’s slate. He also has a favorable matchup on the road against Ottawa. He has posted a record of 4-1-0 versus the Senators this year to go with a 2.00 goals-against average and .931 save percentage.
