NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are only two games scheduled for Friday night.

Pavel Buchnevich (St. Louis) – W - $7,200 FanDuel, $4,900 DraftKings, $23 Yahoo

Buchnevich was limited to a goal and an assist over his first six games, but that’s the only slump he’s had this season. He’s up to 11 goals and 30 points in 31 contests in 2021-22. He’s worth picking up on FanDuel but is particularly good value on DraftKings.

Jordan Kyrou (St. Louis) – W - $6,900 FanDuel, $4,100 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo

Kyrou scored a goal on Wednesday, which extended his goal scoring streak to three games. That gives him 13 goals and 33 points in 30 games this season. Like Buchnevich, he’s particularly well priced on DraftKings.

Nicklas Backstrom (Washington) – C - $6,700 FanDuel, $5,400 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo

Backstrom has only played in three games this season, but he’s contributed an assist in each of those contests. He’s a great playmaking forward who shouldn’t be overlooked now that he’s healthy.

Bargain Bin: Ivan Barbashev (STL) - $5,900 FanDuel/$3,400 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Vincent Trocheck (CAR) - $5,500 FanDuel/$5,000 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Robert Thomas (STL) - $5,300 FanDuel/$3,300 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Nino Niederreiter (CAR) - $5,300 FanDuel/$5,200 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Garnet Hathaway (WAS) - $5,100 FanDuel/$2,700 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Martin Necas (CAR) - $5,000 FanDuel/$4,600 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo

John Carlson (Washington) - $6,900 FanDuel, $6,800 DraftKings, $24 Yahoo

You can save some money with your forward picks today, so you might as well take the top blueliner option. He’s recorded at least a point in each of his last three games and five of his last six contests. He’s up to eight goals and 32 points in 34 contests, which puts him in a tie for third place in the defensemen scoring race.

Bargain Bin: Tony DeAngelo (CAR) - $6,000 FanDuel/$5,900 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Jaccob Slavin (CAR) - $5,500 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Oliver Kylington (CGY) - $5,000 FanDuel/$3,200 DraftKings/$15 Yahoo, Torey Krug (STL) - $5,000 FanDuel/$4,000 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Justin Faulk (STL) - $4,900 FanDuel/$3,700 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo

Frederik Andersen (Carolina) - $8,400 FanDuel, $8,300 DraftKings, $37 Yahoo

Andersen hasn’t started in a game since Dec. 18 because he was in the COVID-19 protocol, but he did enter Saturday’s contest in a relief role. He’s having a fantastic season with a 17-5-0 record, 1.91 GAA, and .929 save percentage in 22 contests, making him a great option even on busier nights than this.

Bargain Bin: Ilya Samsonov (WAS) - $7,400 FanDuel/$7,900 DraftKings/$27 Yahoo
