NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

There is only one game scheduled for tonight, which brings a different format. On FanDuel, you’ll be picking a Captain, who will give you 1.5x points, and four utility players with a budget of $55,000. DraftKings will have you pick a Captain worth 1.5x points and five flex players with a budget of $50,000. For Yahoo, you’ll be picking a Superstar worth 1.5x points and four flex players with a budget of $130. In other words, the terminology and budget changes from site-to-site, but the basic idea is the same throughout. It should also be noted that DraftKings and Yahoo allow you use goaltenders.

CAPTAIN/SUPERSTAR:

Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay) - $15,000 FanDuel, $15,000 DraftKings, $34 Yahoo

Kucherov was held off the scoresheet in Game 2, but he’s still the best forward on either team. He’s scored seven goals and 30 points in 20 contests in the 2021 playoffs. Although FanDuel doesn’t allow you to take a goaltender, either Carey Price or Andrei Vasilevskiy are a great alternative in DraftKings and Yahoo.

Other Plays: Carey Price (MON) - $14,400 DraftKings/$31 Yahoo, Andrei Vasilevskiy (TBL) - $16,800 DraftKings/$38 Yahoo

UTILITY/FLEX:

Brayden Point (Tampa Bay) - $14,500 FanDuel, $15,600 DraftKings, $24 Yahoo

Point’s goal scoring streak is over, but he’s still having an amazing playoff run. Through 20 postseason games, he’s scored 14 goals and 23 points in 20 contests. He didn’t record a point in Game 2, but he was a huge part of the Lightning’s victory in Game 1 with three assists.

Ondrej Palat (Tampa Bay) - $10,000 FanDuel, $11,400 DraftKings, $19 Yahoo

Palat scored a goal in the Lightning’s 3-1 victory over Montreal on Wednesday. He’s only been held off the scoresheet twice over his last eight contests. That’s pushed him up to five goals and 11 points in 20 playoff contests this year.

Cole Caufield (Montreal) - $9,500 FanDuel, $11,100 DraftKings, $14 Yahoo

The Canadiens don’t have the same kind of offensive star power that the Lightning do, but 20-year-old Caufield might someday become such a forward. In the meantime, he’s having an impressive playoff run with four goals and nine points in 17 contests. If the Canadiens are able to solve Vasilevskiy tonight, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Caufield be part of that solution.

Bargain Bin: Anthony Cirelli (TBL) - $8,500 FanDuel/$8,100 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Barclay Goodrow (TBL) - $7,500 FanDuel/$3,600 DraftKings/$12 Yahoo, Ben Chiarot (MON) - $7,000 FanDuel/$7,800 DraftKings/$10 Yahoo
