NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are six games scheduled for Friday.

Forwards:

Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh) – C – $7,500 FanDuel, $8,100 DraftKings, $30 Yahoo

Crosby isn’t priced like a superstar anymore, but lately at least he’s been playing like one. He got off to a slow start this season with just a goal and an assist through seven contests. Since then though, he’s scored three goals and 15 points in nine games showing that even at the age of 34, Crosby is still a big offensive force.

Alex DeBrincat (Chicago) – W - $7,100 FanDuel, $6,700 DraftKings, $22 Yahoo

DeBrincat scored two goals on Wednesday, making in the fifth time in the span of seven games he’s recorded at least a point. He’s contributed 16 goals and 22 points in 28 contests in 2021-22 and as long as he’s hot, he’s worth taking a risk on.

Pavel Buchnevich (St. Louis) – W - $6,400 FanDuel, $5,000 DraftKings, $24 Yahoo

Buchnevich has contributed at least a point in nine of his last 11 contests, giving him seven goals and 15 points over that span. He took a big step forward last season with 20 goals and 48 points in 54 contests and is showing that wasn’t a fluke. Through 27 games in 2021-22, he has 11 goals and 25 points.

Bargain Bin: Jeff Carter (PIT) - $6,200 FanDuel/$5,800 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, T.J. Oshie (WAS) - $6,100 FanDuel/$4,600 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Evan Rodrigues (PIT) - $5,800 FanDuel/$5,600 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Ryan O'Reilly (STL) - $5,400 FanDuel/$4,400 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Reilly Smith (VEG) - $5,100 FanDuel/$3,900 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo

Defensemen:

Roman Josi (Nashville) - $7,300 FanDuel, $7,400 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

Josi has been on a roll lately, recording at least a point in five of his last six games. He’s up to 10 goals and 28 points in 29 contests in 2021-22, which is good for third place in the defensemen scoring race.

Alex Pietrangelo (Vegas) - $7,000 FanDuel, $6,000 DraftKings, $22 Yahoo

Pietrangelo registered an assist Thursday night to extend his point streak to five games. He’s been a steady contributor for a while now. From Oct. 29 onwards, he hasn’t even been held off the scoresheet in back-to-back games. That’s led to him scoring five goals and 21 points in his last 22 contests.

Bargain Bin: Kris Letang (PIT) - $6,700 FanDuel/$6,800 DraftKings/$22 Yahoo, Rasmus Dahlin (BUF) - $5,000 FanDuel/$4,300 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo

Goaltenders:

Tristan Jarry (Pittsburgh) - $8,600 FanDuel, $8,400 DraftKings, $39 Yahoo

Jarry has been one of the league’s top goaltenders this season with a 13-5-4 record, 1.92 GAA, and .934 save percentage in 22 contests. He’s been just as effective lately too, winning his last three games while allowing just five combined goals.

Bargain Bin: Braden Holtby (DAL) - $8,200 FanDuel/$7,300 DraftKings/$28 Yahoo, Charlie Lindgren (STL) - $7,800 FanDuel/$8,100 DraftKings/$23 Yahoo
