NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Typically, FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G), but the rules are different for days like today because there is only one game. For both FanDuel and DraftKings, you can just pick whichever players you believe will serve you best, regardless of position. Today’s article has been adjusted with that in mind.

Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay) - $16,000 FanDuel, $15,900 DraftKings
Kucherov is expensive, but he’s worth it for your Captain slot. He’s both a star player and one of the hottest forwards in the league. He’s scored an outstanding four goals and 13 points in his last six contests alone. Especially if you’re going to lean on the Lightning today, it makes sense to take him.
Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay) - $13,000 FanDuel, $13,500 DraftKings
Though you get no advantage by using a defenseman over a forward, Hedman has been producing better than most forwards lately. He’s on a four-game goal scoring streak and has seven points in those four contests. He’s tied for 10th in the league with seven goals in 15 playoff contests.
If you think this is the game where the Islanders bounce back – and that’s entirely plausible – then Jordan Eberle should be on your team. He’s been one of the Islanders’ most effective forwards in the playoffs and has done particularly well lately with a goal and seven points in seven games. If the Islanders are going to win tonight, then there’s a good chance he’ll be one of the key players in that victory.
Ondrej Palat (Tampa Bay) - $11,000 FanDuel, $12,000 DraftKings
Palat saw his five-game goal scoring streak come to an end on Wednesday, but his hot streak might not be over yet. He has six goals and eight points in his last seven contests.
