For the 56-game 2020-21 NHL season, the league is allowing teams to run ads on helmets to make up for revenue lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, the Washington Capitals and New Jersey Devils were the first two teams to showcase their ads.

The Capitals will be going with Capital One as their "season-long official helmet entitlement partner", and the Devils are teaming up with Prudential for the year.

The 2020-21 season kicks off on Jan. 13, with 2020's non-playoff teams permitted to start training camp as early as Dec. 31. The 24 teams that made it to the past postseason will begin camp on Jan. 3.
