Jaguars waiting on QB decision to 'see how this thing goes'

Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Marrone isn't quite ready to name Chad Henne his starting quarterback. Or Blake Bortles, for that matter. Marrone says Saturday he wants to "see how this thing goes" over the next few days before deciding who will start against the Carolina Panthers in a preseason game Thursday night. Marrone opened up the team's quarterback competition after another inconsistent performance from Bortles, the third overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft. Bortles was 8 of 13 for 65 yards in a loss to Tampa Bay. All four of Bortles' drives ended with punts. Bortles has led the offense to three points in six possessions in the preseason. Henne is 11 of 16 for 183 yards with a touchdown.

Desperate Seahawks must trade for left tackle to save season

But anyone who’s watched the Jacksonville Jaguars in recent years knows that Joeckel is awful. He was brought into Seattle to play guard for a reason. He stinks on the edge, which is why he’s a legitimate first-round bust. It’s important to note that Wilson isn’t the only Seahawks player who stands to lose given the team’s current state of affairs. No matter who’s running the ball — be it Eddie Lacy, Thomas Rawls or Mike Davis — they won’t find many running lanes in 2017. Not running behind the current rag-tag ensemble the Seahawks have on their offensive line. The only way to salvage this dire situation is to somehow orchestrate a trade. Seattle must find a way to solidify its offensive line.

Patriots vs Texans: Four winners and three losers of New England's 27-23 loss

Yesterday, the New England Patriots played their second preseason game of the 2017 season. The team lost the contest against the Houston Texans 27-23 and fell to 0-2 so far this year. At times, it was a sloppy performance by the defending world champions but one that will give the coaching staff more information about its players. That being said, not all was bad as a closer look at this week's winners and losers shows. Winner: RB Rex Burkhead After sitting out last week's preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Rex Burkhead delivered a very good performance in his Patriots debut. The offseason acquisition finished with 10 touches – three catches and seven runs – for a total of 70
