The Broncos’ 2017 third round pick carried the ball three times for 29 yards and caught all three of his Josh Allen targets for 45 yards in addition to his normal kick return duties. Half of his offensive touches moved the sticks. Emmanuel Sanders didn’t receive as many touches as his teammate, but he burned the Patriots’ Joejuan Williams to haul in a 34-yard score.
Rookie quarterback in the draft This option could potentially be worse than running it back with Lock — and maybe even running it back with Bridgewater — if the Broncos once again get stuck with a young, floundering quarterback they’re overly patient with. That stubbornness to accept quarterback misses has plagued the rebuilds of many of the fledgling franchises in the league.
John Elway is unquestionably the greatest player in the history of the Denver Broncos, and during his early years as an executive with the team, his acquisition of Peyton Manning and other top talent led to a great four-year stretch and the Super Bowl 50 championship. But the squad has been so terrible since then that Elway has torched an astonishing amount of the goodwill he'd accrued — so much so that reports he might be making a bid to purchase the team are filling many Broncos fans with terror.
