Urban Meyer is back — and that mens the drama can officially end. After a brief retirement where he left as head coach of Ohio State in Jan. 2019 under a cloud of controversy, Meyer has spent the last two years as a college football analyst with FOX Sports. But every time a major college coaching gig became available (or was about too, USC), the first name mentioned and call that went out was always too Meyer.
The Jacksonville Jaguars made a big splash by landing Urban Meyer as head coach. While the news seemed imminent for a while, it was made official last night. Not only are Jaguars fans excited about what Meyer can bring to Duval, but so are many current Jaguars players.
University of Texas Chief of Staff Fernando Lovo is expected to join Urban Meyer on the Jacksonville Jaguars staff. At both Texas and the University of Houston, Lovo served as former Texas Head Coach Tom Herman’s right hand man, according to Bruce Feldman. At Houston, Lovo worked directly with their strength, sports medicine, football video, equipment and administrative staffs, according to Texas Sports.
