The Kansas City Chiefs have beaten the Denver Broncos 11 straight times. To prevent a 12th, Fangio and the Broncos defense will need to find a way to slow down Patrick Mahomes. Yesterday I wrote about how such a gameplan will create stress points on other parts of the defense, which means individual matchups along the Broncos front are going to be critical.
Rookie running back Javonte Williams will get his first start Sunday night at Kansas City if Melvin Gordon III can't play. Gordon didn't practice all week because of hip and shoulder injuries and was listed as doubtful Friday. Coach Vic Fangio doesn't expect Gordon to participate in Saturday's walkthrough, either.
Denver Broncos rookie cornerback Patrick Surtain II will be in for a grand test this week against wide receiver Tyreek Hill and the Kansas City Chiefs. Surtain has continued to shine in his rookie campaign. He is just coming off of the two-interception performance against quarterback Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers, which included a timely 70-yard pick-six in the fourth quarter that sealed the win for Denver.
