San Francisco 49ers' tight end George Kittle has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets with a sprained knee, coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Friday. Shanahan said earlier this week Kittle could be a gametime decision. Kittle, an All-Pro First-team selection in 2019, had not practiced all week and the 49ers decided to leave Kittle in the Bay Area for continued rehab.
The Seattle Seahawks have had a nasty habit of starting slowly. If their debut at Atlanta last weekend is any indication, Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson have the motors revving from the jump. Few teams were more impressive than Seattle as the NFL season began.
I’d like to make the bold prediction that things can’t get any worse, but playing against the 49ers coming off a week 1 divisional loss and a Super Bowl letdown does not bode well for a Jets team that is understandably at the bottom of nearly all power rankings. This has the makings of a bloodbath, but football is played on the field and not on paper, so we might as well go bold.
