With inside linebacker Kamal Martin’s promising NFL debut last Sunday against Houston, plus the gradually ascending play of defensive lineman Kingsley Keke and the presumed improving health of outside linebacker Rashan Gary (ankle), there are reasons to think coordinator Mike Pettine’s defense will, unlike last year, be noticeably better in the second half of the season than in the first half. That’s not to say the Packers suddenly are on their way to becoming a top-five defense in the NFL.
Minnesota’s Dalvin Cook is expected to have a full workload when he returns from his groin injury suffered in Seattle. But Green Bay’s Aaron Jones will miss a second game because of a bad calf. So Jamaal Williams will look to have another big day in his place.
