ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday that Bieniemy is "firmly in the mix" in Houston, where newly hired general manager Nick Caserio "has done thorough homework" on the 51-year-old.
Brandon Staley, one of the top defensive strategists in the NFL, interviewed Sunday morning for the Texans' head coaching job, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly. The Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator is in heavy demand. Staley, 38, is conducting a second interview in Los Angeles with the Chargers on Sunday prior to an interview with Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie in Florida on Monday.
Uncertainty surrounding Deshaun Watson's future with the Houston Texans has made the head coaching vacancy especially unappealing.
