News is not good for former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson. ESPN reporter Jeremey Fowler reports the Houston quarterback could be suspended by the NFL even if he is exonerated of all claims of sexual assault and sexual misconduct, which has NFL teams interested in trading for Watson concerned. Watson is facing a civil lawsuit where 22 women have alleged he was not professional to them while receiving massage therapy treatments.
As such, when it comes to specific draft needs it would be easier to list the positions the team doesn't need resolving rather than those they do. That being said, the priority has to be a cornerback, followed by a defensive tackle, and a defensive end. And there are a number of cornerbacks in particular who look like relatively safe bets where the Texans will be selecting at pick 67.
The Houston Texans drafted defensive back Lonnie Johnson Jr. during the 2019 NFL Draft with the idea that he would slide in at the starting cornerback position. Instead, Johnson would move to the deep end as a safety in 2020. Last season, he took 64 percent of the defensive snaps opposite of Justin Reid, recording 703 total counts.
