Arden Key signs with San Francisco: The third-round pick of the Raiders in 2018 signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday. Key was released by the Raiders a week ago. San Francisco might be a good spot for Key because it has a strong defensive line and there will be no pressure on him.
A scan of ProFootballReference.com shows that the Raiders have started 34 different cornerbacks in the ensuing 10 years, including opening games with extra corners when in nickel and dime alignments. Twice they took corners in the first round — D.J. Hayden in 2013 and Gareon Conley in 2017 — and neither made it to a second contract. There have been 10 different starters since Jon Gruden took over in 2018.
Hot on the heels of next week’s NFL draft, the league announced yesterday that the 2021 season schedule will officially be released on Wednesday, May 12, at 5 p.m. PT via NFL Network, NFL.com and the NFL app. That means we will all be able to start planning those game-day trips to Vegas to christen Allegiant Stadium for it’s first year open to fans.
