The New Orleans Saints released fullback Ricky Ortiz, the team announced earlier this week. Ortiz, the former Oregon State star, appeared in one game with the Saints during the 2019 season. He signed with the Saints in December and appeared in the Saints’ 42-10 win over the Carolina Panthers during Week 17.
That begs the question: should the Saints add another defensive lineman before the season begins? For this exercise let’s assume that cap space is not a factor and that wizard/general manager Mickey Loomis can make an acquisition work. Now that that is out of the way let’s address the misnomers that surround the defensive line unit year in and year out.
The New Orleans Saints are moving players and team personnel to a downtown New Orleans hotel as the franchise looks to improve its chances of limiting Covid-19 exposures through training camp. Saints coach Sean Payton said the team came to the decision after looking at the percentages. If there's 80 players and then another, call it 90 or 95 people, coaching, training, equipment, total number of people in your first or second tier, let's call it 170,” Payton said.
